How to Apply to UNZA and CBU in Zambia
University applications are rejected more often for paperwork errors than for grades. This guide walks through the UNZA and CBU application process, with pre-filled sample forms so you can see exactly how each section should look.
1Confirm you meet the entry requirements
Both UNZA and CBU require a full Grade 12 School Certificate with credits or better in five subjects, including the subjects specific to your chosen programme. Mature-age and diploma-entry routes have their own requirements.
2Choose your programme and campus carefully
List your programme choices in order of preference. Check the school each programme falls under, and confirm the required subject combination before you write anything on the form.
3Fill in the application form
Complete your personal details, Grade 12 examination number and year, subject grades, and programme choices. Write exactly as they appear on your results slip — the examination number and centre number are checked against ECZ records.
4Attach documents and pay the application fee
Attach certified copies of your Grade 12 certificate or results slip, NRC or birth certificate, and the application fee deposit slip or mobile-money confirmation. Applications without proof of payment are not processed.
5Submit before the deadline and track your offer
Submit online through the university portal or at the admissions office before the closing date. Successful applicants receive an offer letter stating the programme, fees, and registration dates.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Wrong Grade 12 examination number or examination year
- Choosing a programme without the required subject credits
- Uncertified or unreadable copies of certificates
- Submitting without proof of the application fee payment
- Missing the closing date — late applications are not considered
